Our Hearts Burned
Age 42

I wonder how often I am on the road to Emmaus, missing God when He is right there with me. I think I forget to really listen to what my heart is telling me sometimes. In fact, I suspect that when my heart is burning I don’t often stop long enough to feel what it’s telling me. I could definitely do better in this department. I’m encouraged though. I’m encouraged because Jesus didn’t leave the disciples sight never to return. Instead, He returned for ALWAYS. The Holy Spirit became God in them and then God in me: right now and for all tomorrows. Today my heart burns within me without ceasing whether I attend to it or not. God couldn’t bring Himself any closer to me than He already has.
