My story is inside my art: literally and figuratively. I wrote my spiritual autobiography 8 years ago. Today, I ripped up the pages of my story and added its words and illustrations to my canvas. A simple vase of flowers is transformed into a metaphor for my mother’s passion and creativity. How amazing she was at decorating a space and transforming it. She has passed a baton to me and I have grabbed it. I pass her creative energy onto others when I create and then share. My past, my passions, my spirituality and my present are all rolled into one piece of art. When I share, I pass that baton and my story reaches out to others. If someone is inspired to share too, it’s like ripples from a stone tossed in a pond: out, out, and out yet again.

Consider that you can make a ripple. Share your story today.

Take Apart 2,
Age 45

I am in the throes of taking apart my old art: the art that doesn't please me in its entirety. I love pieces of these pieces though, so I start to use them. I make some new work that is not entirely new. I make something better from something not quite right. It is satisfying.

Old Junk
Age 42

I’m gonna pull that Old Junk out of my head. I’m not going to give it a chance to play its old song of doubt, fear and sadness. Instead, I’m going to believe something new, write a new song and let that new tape play. Old tape out, new tape in!
